Day 1:

Pick up at Telupid Town by 1400hrs at agreed pick-up point.  A short briefing by guide about your 3 hours journey with 4×4 vehicle to ICCA.  Guests are advised to purchase their essential items (if required) such as local made rubber shoes for trekking “Adidas Kampung”, Charger, Insect Repellent, Medication, Snack etc. before departure to ICCA.  These items can be purchased at G-Mart Supermarket or 88 Superstore.  Start your journey from Telupid to Kg. Imbak on 1 ½ hour drive using 4×4 vehicle.  By 1500hrs, arriving at ICCA Information Centre Building, Kg. Imbak, Tongod.  After a short briefing on Kinabatangan District, proceed to the ICCA via ex-logging road for about 1 and half hours.  Guest are expected to arrive at ICCA at 1700hrs and dinner will be served at 1900hrs.

Day 2:
IMBAK CANYON STUDIES CENTRE – ARA TRAIL – BELIAN TRAIL – IMBAK WATERFALL (B/L/D)

Your day will start at 0630hrs.  Get ready and gear up for Bird Watching activity.  Then proceed to have your breakfast at the Bambangan Dining Hall (buffet style) at 0730hrs.  Be entertained with relaxing environment of the forest while having your breakfast in an “Al-Fresco” style (Open Air Dining Hall).  Forest exploration activity starts at about 0900hrs.  Activity will start from Ara Suspension Bridge along the Ara Trail (formerly known as Phenology trail) to the renowned Imbak Falls.  The trail is 1.3km and take approximately an hour and 45 minutes to trek depending on your speed and fitness.  (Trail difficulty: Moderate).  At 0945hrs, expected to arrive at the Kapur Suspension Bridge, the starting point of Keruing Trail (1.6km) until you reach the Big Belian Tree, also known as “The old man of the forest”.  By 1130hrs,  you will arrived at 39 feet wide of iconicImbak Falls!  Rest & enjoy your lunch accompanied with soft relaxing sound of the waterfalls.  By 1330hrs, head back to ICSC by Car via main road for 1.3km. 

At about 1430hrs, your journey continue with trekking from Ara Suspension Bridge, trek inside the Nepenthes Trail (3.6km) that take an approximately an hour trekking up hill. (Trail Difficulty: Moderate to Hard). Along the trail, you may encounter many big trees (mixed Dipterocarp and other commercial timber), all kind of mushrooms before reaching the Nepenthes ‘Garden’.  Around the garden, you will be amazed with the white sand which is suitable for Nepenthes species to grow (usually acidic and low in nutrients).  By 1630hrs, head back to the accommodation and have a rest before dinnet at 1900hrs.  Before the night ends, explore the night on a 6-seater open-air jeep for Night Drive activity.  Night Drive activity starts from ICSC to Tampoi Station. Wildlife is hardly seen and if you are lucky you might have a chance to see Flying Squirrel, Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Slow Loris, and sometimes you may cross path with a herd of Elephants.

Day 3:
At 0700hrs, breakfast will be served at Bambangan Dining Hall.  Before checking out, guest my want to visit the ICCA Herbs Garden which located in front of the rest house.  You may find many interesting herbs which most are used for medicinal plants.  at 0930hrs.  Check-Out.

Note: Before leaving from the centre, drop your room keys at the Reception Office.  Remember to visit ICCA Souvenirs Shop located next to the Reception Office to buy some mementos for you to take home.  Especially the ICCA T-Shirt with the tagline “Wildlife are friends, Not Food” to support the awareness & appreciation toward nature.

Day 1:

At 1400hrs, floating activity at Sungai Kangkawat! Get your floating tube from the guide.  Drifts slowly, enjoy the relaxation and absorb positive energies that nature offers. Before activity starts, please pay attention to the Guide’s safety briefing.  By 1630hrs, head back to the accommodation and have a rest before dinnet at 1900hrs.  Before the night ends, explore the night on a 6-seater open-air jeep for Night Drive activity.  Night Drive activity starts from ICSC to Tampoi Station. Day 3:

TREK TO KULI RESEARCH STATION – MAYA WATERFALL

At 0700hrs, breakfast will be served at Bambangan Dining Hall.  Remember to bring along your food & water container.  Packed lunch will be prepared by the ICCA kitchen staff for your lunch at Kuli Research Station.  At 0800hrs, your transport will be waiting for you in front of your accommodation.  Before depart from the centre, drop your room keys at the Reception Office. *Guests are required to sign a disclaimer form before departing to Kuli Research Station.

Note: Guests will stay 1 night at Kuli Research Station.  Please prepare the necessary gear such as leech sock, trekking shoes (preferable waterproof shoes i.e. rubber shoes), medicine, insect repellent, poncho, torchlight, towel, socks and extra clothing for trekking to the waterfalls.  Should you have other luggage that you do not wish to carry to KRS, kindly informed the front-desk clerk to store your luggage.  Remove all valuables beforehand, and be sure to get a receipt.  By 0830hrs, Off to the Kuli Research Station.  Journey will take about 1-hour drive with moderate to bumpy road.

Trekking will take about 1 1/2 hours to reach the Kuli Research Station.  (Trail Difficulty: Easy Trail).  As you trek inside into the primary forest, possibilities of sighting of birds, mammals and reptiles are common.  Watch your steps and move quietly.  By 1100hrs, guest will arrived at Kuli Research Station.  Check-in to your room.  The accommodation is fairly simple design with basic necessities such as mattress and fan for 2 person per room.  Sharing bathroom located outside the rest house.  Electricity is supplied by the solar panels installed near the rest house, thus electricity at night only available until the battery runs out, which is around 10pm.

1200hrs, lunch at the multipurpose hall (packed lunch).  At 1300hrs, Trekking to the Maya Falls!  Journey takes about three (3) hours return trip depending on your fitness level. (Trail difficulty: Moderate). After reaching Maya Falls, have a rest, take memorable pictures with the magnificent Maya Falls and enjoy dipping yourself in the refreshing waterfall.  By 1530hrs, head back to the Kuli Research Station.  Night or dark may come sooner in the forest so please watch your steps and get your torchlight ready.  Dinner will be served at the multipurpose hall at 1900hrs.  At about 2030hrs, night walk activity around Kuli Research Station.  You are advised to bring along a torch-light and poncho.  Activity may take about 2 hours return trip in easy rating trail. 2300hrs, Rest.

Day 4:
At 0530hrs, start the day with Bird watching activity around Kuli Research Station.  The sound of birds singing and other animals makes the quiet station becomes a place of orchestra early in the morning.   Activity will be conducted just around the station or at the selected trail by your guide.  As usual, breakfast will be served at 0700hrs. At 0900hrs, check Out from Kuli Research Station.

Around 1100hrs, arrived at ICCA Registration Building.  Check-out and claim your other luggage.  Remember to check your belongings before leaving.  Remember to visit ICCA Souvenirs Shop located next to the Reception Office to buy some mementos for you to take home.  Especially the ICCA T-Shirt with the tagline “Wildlife are friends, Not Food” to support the awareness & appreciation toward nature.  At 1230hrs, have your lunch at Bambangan Dining Hall before leaving the centre.
